Maria interviewed on PBS documentary

Last year I was part of a group of scholars and speakers interviewed for the PBS documentary “VOCES American Historia: The untold history of Latinos” hosted by John Leguizamo. For episode 1 “Echoes of Empire” I was asked to comment on what we know about the ancient peoples of the Caribbean and their history, and the impacts of European colonialism on their legacy. For episode 2 “Threads in the American Tapestry” I was asked to comment on Puerto Rico’s colonial relationship to the USA, and how this link impacts our views of our own history.
